IWAAS Made a Research on the “Silk City and Five Islands” Project in Kuwait

On September 24-28th, Kuwait, a penal of scholars from the Institute of West-Asian and African Studies (IWAAS) made a special research on the “Silk City and Five Islands” project, a flagship project in China-Kuwaiti cooperation in implementing the “Belt and Road” Initiative. Led by Professor Yang Guang, the research penal members included Professor Wang Lincong, Professor Tang Zhichao, Associate Professor Chen Mo and Dr. Wang Jinyan.

 

 

 

During its research, the penal had talks with some institutions and Chinese-funded enterprises in Kuwait, including Embassy of P.R.C in the State of Kuwait, Kuwait Five Islands Administrative Committee, Kuwait University, Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of China’s embassy in Kuwait, Sinopec Kuwait, ICBC, CSCEC, China Railway 18 Bureau Group, Huawei, China Gezhouba Group, China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), CHEC, SANY, China Jiangsu International, CWE, MCC,etc.

 

The penal was greatly supported and aided by Embassy of P.R.C in the State of Kuwait, Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of China’s embassy in Kuwait and Sinopec Kuwait during its research. Chinese Ambassador Wang Di, Counsellor Cheng Yongru, Counsellor Zhao Liang and general manager Zhang Congbang from Sinopec Kuwait respectively introduced relevant circumstances, including Sino-Kuwait relations, to the penal.
