On the afternoon of June 24, 2019, the representatives of African scholars from more than ten African countries, including Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and South Africa, visited China-Africa Institute.  Li Xinfeng, Executive Vice-President of China-Africa Institute presided over the meeting and held the symposium, presenting the publicity video of China-Africa Institute to the foreign guests.  Later, the two sides exchanged the views on China-Africa relations, people-to-people exchanges, academic publishing, media and cooperation in other fields.

Professor Li Xinfeng and the African scholars reviewed the main points of President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech in the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.  Professor Li encouraged the African scholars to make recommendations to promote the China-Africa people-to-people and cultural exchanges and make full use of China-Africa Institute, a high-end platform for sharing academic achievements and promoting mutual trust and understanding between Chinese and African peoples.

During the symposium, the African scholars, combing with their own countries’ reality, expressed their ideas about the national language communication, the overseas students’ return for employment, joint publicity of media and other issues.  They expected to have a more profound understanding of China’s economy and society after the field investigations and academic exchanges in the future for a period of time, and form academic achievements to provide more intelligence supports for the implementation of “Eight Major Initiatives” to China-Africa cooperation.
