On August 28, 2020, the academic seminar "Strategic Trends in the Development of contemporary Islamic World" was held offline and online.The main venue of the seminarwas in Beijing.Wang Lincong, deputy director of the IWAAS, attended the seminar and delivered a speech.Tang Zhichao, director of the Center for Middle East Development and Governance, IWAAS, presided over the first period of the seminar and made a summary of the seminar. Wang Jian, director of Information Research Office,IWAAS, presided over the second period of the seminar.
The seminar discussed such topics as "the strategic trend of the development of the Contemporary Islamic world", "the challenges and opportunities facing the Islamic world under the great changes in the international situation" and "The development of the relationship between China and the Islamic world".

The seminar is an important academic conference in the field of Islamic studies in China in recent years.The participating scholars put forward many important and innovative viewpoints.
The seminar was organized by the Middle East Development and Governance Research Center of the IWAAS and the CASS "Peak Strategy" superior discipline "Contemporary Middle East Studies", the key subject "Great Powers and the Middle East Relations" and the innovative project "China's Middle East Strategy" Co-hosted and assisted by the Research Division of the IWAAS. There were also more than 30 experts from the IWAAS, including Wei Min, Lu Jin, Chen Mo, Wei Liang, Zhu Quangang, Qi Qiangfei, Ma Wencheng, and experts and scholars from famous think tanks and universities at home and abroad.
