The Chinese and African academia held a video symposium——the first anniversary of learning and implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s congratulatory to the establishment of the CAI

On April 9, 2020, the Chinese-African academia learned and implemented the congratulatory letter from president Xi Jinping to the CAI on the first anniversary of the establishment of the CAI. The symposium first played the video of Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, reading out the congratulatory letter from president Xi Jinping to the establishment of the CAI on April 9, 2019. Cai Fang, deputy President of the CASS and President of the CAI, attended the symposium and delivered a speech entitled "Developing China-Africa Relations with two overall Situations in mind".Li Xinfeng, Executive Vice President of the CAI presided over the symposium.

There are more than 90 scholars and experts presented  the symposium including Xie Shouguang, president of the Social Sciences Academic Press(CHINA); Guo Hong and Wang Lincong, vice presidents of the CAI;Sand Ngarand,Zambian Dean of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia, and Director of the “Belt and Road” Joint Research Center at the University of Zambia; Zhang Yonghong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of International Relations of Yunnan University and researcher of the African Studies Center. Wang Yuchen, a researcher at the South Africa China-Africa Transportation Strategy Research Institute; Zhang Zhongxiang, director of the African Studies Center of Shanghai Normal University; Dr. Ming Zhang from the Confucius Institute at Lagos University, Nigeria; Liu Zhongwei, deputy director of the International Relations division of the CAI and other Chinese and African scholars.

　The symposium included two main agendas. The first agenda was to learn the spirit of the congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping to the establishment of the CAI. The second agenda was the launching issue of the"Journal of China-Africa Studies".

Cai Fang, Vice President of the CASS and Dean of the CAI, and Xie Shouguang, President of the social sciences academic press unveiled the inaugural issue of the "Joural of China-Africa Studies".Xie Shouguang made a relevant speech.Wu Chuanhua, Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the"Journal of China-Africa Studies",introduced the launch of the"Journal of China-Africa Studies" publication status.
