Zhou Yunfan, vice-president of China-Africa Institute (CAI) paid a visit to the Representative Office of African Union (AU) to China in Beijing on May 10, 2023. She met with Mr. Rahamtalla M. Osman Elnor, permanent representative of the AU to China. They exchanged views in several topics including CAI’s upcoming visit to the African Union Commission (AUC), and potential cooperation between the CAI and the AUC and African think tanks.
Zhou Yunfan expressed her gratitude for the Office in supporting various activities and China-Africa exchanges of the Institute, and briefed the permanent representative on the visit of a CAI delegation to the AUC and the organization of “China Lecture” in Africa.
Mr. Rahamtalla M. Osman Elnor spoke highly of CAI’s exchange programs with Africa and said that his office would continue to support them. He emphasized that topics such as resilience and recovery of the Chinese economy, poverty alleviation and China and Africa cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative would provide a Chinese approach in pursuing modernization and development in Africa. It would help to advance the people-to-people exchanges between China and Africa in the new ear.
Dr. Deng Yanting, the deputy director of the Division of Security Studies of CAI attended the meeting.
