Yao Guimei, A Study on the New Dynamic of African Industrialization from the Perspective of African Integration
West Asia and Africa, No. 4, 2016
Abstract: As the common aspiration of all African countries,African economic integration has been experiencing an in-depth development throughout years of unremitting effort. The concordance among three African regional integration organizations, the largest unveiled Free Trade Area,an increasing interior trade and investment,as well as the ongoing cross - border infrastructure construction, would beyond no doubt enable the development of African integration to embark on a new step. Despite being categorized as one of the core missions by various African integration mechanisms, the African industrialization has yet witnessed little breakthrough and turned out to be the weak spot of African international cooperation. By currently introducing the strategies and policies on regional industrialization, the African integration organizations envision a promising future which would be realized through the industrial cooperation among member states,an accelerating industrialization,an economy escalation, and an inclusive growth. To realize industrialization and integration is an irresistible trend of future Africa. However, the context of sluggish world economy as well as severe challenges from domains of African domestic politics, economy and social culture would never make a royal road for the development of African industrialization.
