Yao Guimei (Female), Professor of African studies section of Institute of West-Asian and African Studies (IWAAS), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).  Director of Center for South African Studies, Vice secretary general of third world center of CASS. Standing Member of Research Society for African Problems, and standing member of China Society of Emerging Economies, CASS.

Born in March 1964 in Beijing. B.A. (1987) degrees in Department of Economics f Beijing Normal University. In charge of foreign affairs and research management of the Division of research plan and coordination of IWAAS, CASS from 1987-1991. Being an assistant professor from 1992-1998. Being an associate professor from 1998 to 2006. Being an professor from Sept.2006 to the present. From August—December of 1994, served as a visiting scholar at the center for African studies in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,USA.
