Zhang Hongming(male), professor and Deputy Director of the Institute of West Asian and African Studies (IWAAS), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS)；doctoral tutor at the CASS Graduate School; Executive Deputy Chairman of Chinese Society of Asian & African Research; Deputy Chairman of Chinese Society of African Studies; Deputy Chairman of Chinese Society of African Historical Research. Born in 1959, graduated from the CASS Graduate School with the Master of Law in 1988, and furthered fellowship studies at African Institute of Basic Research in Dakar University of Senegal from 1988-1989 and the Black African Study Center in Bordeaux of France in 2000. Recruited into IWAAS in 1982, and advanced as the professor of CASS in 1998; assigned as the Deputy Director of IWAAS from 2003, with the award of special government allowance. With work experience at China’s Embassy in Guinea (1991-1993) and China’s Embassy in Benin (1995-1998), made short-term surveys on spot, well-knit investigation and study to the resident states and other African countries as well.
